An engaging and inspiring teacher, Damon seeks to get the best out of every student he works with.

Having been the resident woodwind tutor for the Fulham Boys School since January 2016, Damon has coached his students for their graded exams, GCSEs and Duke of Edinburgh awards, as well as working with their various ensembles and creating a new jazz education option within the school.

Damon also teaches a diverse array of students privately, ages 6 - 63, with lessons catering for complete beginners all the way to those auditioning for conservatoire.

Damon has a full DBS check and is available for one-to-one lessons (via Skype or in person) on saxophone, clarinet and flute and can cover a variety of disciplines and abilities, from pop, jazz and improvised music through to folk and classical music.

Teaching Testimonials

Damon has been a brilliant teacher for our son. Engaging, enthusiastic and encouraging, Damon pays close attention and makes detailed observations - a great resource when practising. Our son looks forward to his lessons and finds them absolutely inspiring.

Between my two kids taking music lessons, I’ve seen almost 10 different music teachers during the last 9 years and Damon is by far the best teacher we’ve had. Lucas concurs and said Damon is the best teacher he’s had. He is given targeted and varied exercises every week so Lucas doesn’t get bored or complacent with doing the same type of practice. Damon gives specific tips on how to practice so Lucas can get the most out of it. I’ve noticed a marked improvement in Lucas’ clarinet playing and even more importantly, his sustained enthusiasm to learn with Damon and continued enjoyment of playing music.

Damon has been teaching our two boys for over a year now (Grade 2 and Grade 5).
We initially chose him based upon his CV, in particular the mix between his classical academic background and his creative and more eclectic musical career. Little did we know how amazing his teaching skills would be.
Damon strikes the right balance between discipline and fun. He knows how to engage the boys by combining music theory, scales, improv and fun tunes. The communication is great; after each lesson, he sends us homework and feedback, so that the boys (and us) are fully aware of what they should practice. This also allows us to monitor their progress.
During the confinement, we switched to video tutoring and despite the challenge, it did not affect at all the quality of the lessons. To the extent that we will carry on remotely with Damon for the next year that we are going to spend in France!
Damon is very personable and inspirational for the boys, and we are more than happy to provide this testimony.

I have been highly impressed with Damon’s approach which combines professionalism and pragmatism with fun and enjoyment. The lessons are well-organised with lots of different musical activities but never lose sight of the fact that learning an instrument should be enjoyable.
